Marginalised families often lack access to quality eye care and cannot afford cataract surgeries, leaving thousands to suffer from preventable blindness. This project organises Cataract Surgery Camps in underserved areas, providing specialised services to identified patients. Each donation covers the cost of a single cataract operation, while a minimum of 50 surgeries are needed to run a full camp. Cataract removal is a simple, effective procedure that instantly restores sight—transforming lives by enabling patients to work, study, and live independently again. By sponsoring a surgery, you give more than medical care—you give dignity, opportunity, and hope.
Why Cataract Removal Matters
2.2 billion
live with vision impairment or blindness, and at least 1 billion cases could have been prevented or treated, according to the World Health Organisation.
50%
of global blindness is caused by cataract, making them the leading cause of blindness worldwide — despite being fully treatable with a simple surgical procedure.
20million
are blind due to cataracts, most of them living in low-income countries where access to eye care is limited.
Cataracts are one of the leading causes of blindness worldwide, yet the condition is easily reversible. For low-income families, the inability to afford surgery means living in darkness, dependent on others, and unable to earn a livelihood. A single cataract operation can restore vision, allowing patients to return to work, care for their families, and regain independence. Supporting this project means breaking the cycle of poverty and disability, one surgery at a time.
